Accessing the Members Only Page Help

After installing Internet Explorer 7 some of us were having problems accessing the Members Only page.  After clicking the Members Only link the Password Authentification box (a JAVA Applet) would open and then quickly minimize and appear in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.  One could then click on it in the taskbar and it would open and one could then enter their Name and Password and it would work.  The problem was the window would not stay open when you first clicked on it; it required re-opening it from the taskbar.  There was no problem logging in when using the Mozilla Firefox, Netscape, or Opera browsers.

(Note: if you aren't having any problem accessing the Members Only Page you don't have to do any of the steps suggested below.)

This problem was solved on my computer by downloading the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) which at the time of this writing is JRE 6--which works on my operating system Windows XP SP2.  I chose the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 download option from:  http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jspThe Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications. But things keep changing and new versions keep coming out.  Now I suggest you go to:
http://www.java.com/en/You should be able to download the appropriate version from this site.

Also if you just bought a new computer and cannot log in to the Members Only page you might need to install JAVA as explained above.  If JAVA doesn't show up as illustrated in the screen shots below and you cannot access the Members Only page, try installing it.

I found the information at http://mindprod.com/jgloss/jre.html very informative.

After you get it installed, make sure you have your browser set to work with JAVA.

1.  Open Internet Explorer 4.x and Up

2.  Click "Tools">>"Internet Options"

3.  Select the Advanced Tab, and scroll down to "Java (Sun)"

InternetOptionsBox

4.  Check the box next to the "Use Java...."

5.  Next,  select the Security Tab, and select the "Custom Level" button, The Security Settings dialog box appears.

6.  Using the scroll bar, locate Scripting: Scripting of Java Applets

IESecuritySettingsBox

7.  Make sure the "Enable" radio button is checked.

8.  Click OK.  A confirmation dialog box appears.

9.  To confirm the new settings, click OK.  Your changes are saved.

If you want you can Verify Your Java Software Installation.

Good Luck!
